A saint who left his print all over northwestern Europe

This is a collection of essays based on papers originally read at the Éigse Cholm Cille 2021 conference, which marked the one thousand five hundred year anniversary of Colmcille. The saint had a long-lasting impact on the cultural life of the Gaels and other countries in northwestern Europe, and this book deals with specific aspects of that legacy. Among the topics covered here are the texts – both religious and secular – associated with Colmcille, the mark his cult left on placenames, the archaeological remains and the influence the Gaels had on the early church in Iceland.

The book is edited by Nioclás Mac Cathmhaoil (University of Ulster), Caitríona Ó Dochartaigh (University College Cork) and Courtney Selvage (University of Ulster). This is the second volume in the Adhamnáin Series.
