Romeo and Juliet in the Horn of Africa

Corto and his friend, the Danakil warrior Cuis are travelling in Abbysinia in the Horn of Africa. They visit Cuis’s village and hear that Cuis’s brother, Rhomah, has been captured by the Christians. He is accused of abducting Fala Mariam, the daughter of Ras Yaqob, chief of the Christian tribe. Marriage between Christians and Muslims is forbidden, and the two tribes are preparing for war!
