‘The Ogre’ is the first novel in the series ‘Sráid an Iarla’ (Earl’s Street) featuring Mártan in an adventure for 9-10 year olds.
As dogs are being stolen from all over town, a big dark-haired man (known to Mártan as the ‘Ogre’) and a youthful blonde lady come to live in Number 2, Little Gate Street. When a neighbour’s dog disappears Mártan becomes even more curious about the new neighbors. But who is the Ogre? And who is stealing the dogs?
“Scéal iomlán réalaíoch … feiceann an gasúr gné osnádúrtha leis an scéal de bharr a chuid léitheoireachta agus samhlaíochta, agus de bhrí go nglacann sé go litriúil le meafar i gcaint na ndaoine fásta. Thar a bheith éifeachtach! Níl an chaint sa leabhar róchrua agus tá sé ar chumas m’iníne é a léamh. Beidh orm dul sa tóir ar na leabhair eile sa tsraith!” — Aonghus Ó hAlmhain, ‘Smaointe Fánacha Aonghusa’
