Brian Ó Broin has won numerous awards for his writing, and his play Na hEorpaigh was staged in 2002. A Galwegian, he is a lecturer, a teacher and a broadcaster, and is a professor in William Paterson University, New Jersey. He lives in New Jersey with his wife Jo and their daughters Ána and Fiona.
